ABOUT

St. John Brebeuf High School and St. James and St. Ann's School are located in the western region of Abbotsford, just off the highway at the Mt. Lehman exit. Tucked up against Gardner Park and Fishtrap Creek, The schools are within walking distance to Fishtrap Creek Trail and Discovery Trail. They are also close to shopping and transit, and biking and hiking trails abound. The famous Tulip Festival takes place in Abbotsford just past Whatcom Road, along Highway 1, and Abbotsford is also the home of the Vancouver Canucks farm team. Abbotsford is one of the most affordable communities in the Lower Mainland of BC.

SJB is a community of approximately 400 students from Grades 8 - 12, and St. James and St. Ann's School is a community of approximately 230 students from K - 7. We are small schools, when compared to other schools in our area, allowing for a more personal experience for our students. Both schools pride themselves on faith formation of our students, and opportunities to deepen faith are plentiful. JOB DESCRIPTION

St. James and St. Ann’s Elementary and St. John Brebeuf High school are faith-filled Catholic learning communities dedicated to fostering academic excellence, creativity, and spiritual growth in our students. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team, guiding students in both music education and learning resource support.

Position Details:

This full-time position consists of the following responsibilities:

Band Teacher (0.4 FTE)

  • St. James and St. Ann’s Elementary School (0.2 FTE): Teaching Band to Grades 6 and 7 students.
  • St. John Brebeuf High School (0.2 FTE): Teaching Band to high school students in a credited after school program.

Learning Resource Teacher at St. John Brebeuf High School (0.6 FTE)

  • Supporting high school students with diverse learning needs.
  • Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborating with teachers to provide academic accommodations and support.
  • Coordinating assessments and liaising with support staff and families.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Valid teaching certification in British Columbia.

• Experience teaching music/band at the elementary and/or high school level.

• Background in learning resource, special education, or related field preferred.

• Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills.

• Commitment to Catholic education and the values of faith-based learning.

• Ability to collaborate with staff, students, and parents to foster a supportive learning environment.
