ABOUT
St. John Brebeuf High School is located in the western region of Abbotsford, just off the highway at the Mt. Lehman exit. Tucked up against Gardner Park and Fishtrap Creek, SJB is within walking distance to Fishtrap Creek Trail and Discovery Trail. SJB is close to shopping and transit, and biking and hiking trails abound. The famous Tulip Festival takes place in Abbotsford just past Whatcom Road, along Highway 1, and Abbotsford is also the home of the Vancouver Canucks farm team. Abbotsford is one of the most affordable communities in the Lower Mainland of BC.
SJB is a community of approximately 400 students from Grades 8 - 12. We are a small school, when compared to other schools in our area, allowing for a more personal experience for our students. SJB prides itself on faith formation of our students, and opportunities to deepen faith are plentiful. St. John Brebeuf High School in Abbotsford is seeking an energetic candidate to fill a part-time (2 days per week), short-term teaching position at our school running from January 27, 2025 to June 30, 2025, with the possibility of developing into a continuing contract. This position will focus on teaching Drama and Social Studies. Our successful candidate will be someone who is excited to work with youth in our Catholic schools and is capable of working collaboratively in a job-share with a fellow teacher, as well as with other teachers, para-educators, parents, administration and support staff. The successful applicant will bring a positive attitude and a strong, up-to-date knowledge of educational practices. This position will require knowledge and experience in a variety of areas, including the following:
• Working with children, youth, and families
• Sound professional boundaries
• Maintenance of confidential records
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with the fellow teachers, educational assistants, and administration a positive, collaborative manner
• Effective classroom management skills
• An excellent attitude toward working in a high school environment
• A willingness to contribute to extra-curricular opportunities will be looked upon favourably

On an on-going basis, we accept teacher applications for grade levels K to 12 for our Catholic schools throughout the Greater Vancouver Area and Powell River in beautiful British Columbia. All Catholics, non-Catholics, new education grads, and experienced teachers from across Canada are strongly encouraged to apply. Our major hiring season is in April for the following school year, but we recommend that you apply now as we receive an influx of applications.
